The UK Series J Class racing lost a day due to ‘strong winds' while in Hong Kong a typhoon briefly threatened to disrupt the start of the HK Cruiser Owners' Association Macau Race (but didn't). We're a bit thin on sailing news in Asia at the moment, but see below for the announcement of the new Volvo 65 One Design, the ACWS racing in Newport, Kiteboard Slalom World Championships, a wrap on the J/80 Worlds, and more.

J Class: No racing due to strong winds - Day 4 of UK Series, Falmouth

The fourth race race of the J Class Falmouth regatta was called off with winds consistently over 25 knots and a forecast of stronger winds to follow. Day 2: The good news is that Emirates Team New Zealand's shore team, working all through the night, managed to have the team's boat out on the water in time for a practice before the racing began. ISAF Women's Match Racing World Championship - Bossard out on top

At the ISAF Women's Match Racing World Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden, Julie Bossard of France came out on top in the silver group as results ninth through sixteenth were decided. It was another sunny day in Gothenburg that started off with a light wind, six knots W-SW, that increased slightly to 8-9 knots.... [more]

Volvo Ocean Race - Groupama spoilt on home soil

The Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12 leg eight stopover in Lorient is proposing a dense and lively programme this weekend, with an In-Port race in the Coureaux de Groix on Saturday and Sunday's start of the shortest offshore leg (550 miles) to Galway. J Class: Valsheda wins again - Day 3 of UK Series, Falmouth

The third race of the J Class Falmouth regatta started at twelve o'clock as scheduled, with the first weak rays of sunshine and patches of blue sky that anybody had seen all week.
