There's plenty to get excited about this week, with news from Korea, NZ, around Australia and positive results still coming in from Sanctuary Cove, both from exhibitors and the AIMEX members who have already experienced strong response and some preliminary deals underway with foreign delegates visiting ASMEX and SCIBS, backed by the Gold Coast City Council intent on supporting the local marine industry via this unique networking opportunity.
When one part of our industry triumphs, we should all take heart. Actually, that was Ita Buttrose's message at the boat show Ladies' Lunch: there's power in unity and we should celebrate when a rival triumphs as it inevitably brings benefits to all.
UAE icon brand, Gulf Craft, has appointed Richard Morris as Australian agent and we have the exclusive on his plans for the brand downunder. There's also our interview with COO Erwin Bamps, who reveals the brand's aims and values, as well as its approach to the challenges of the GFC and subsequent ripples of economic unrest.
Celebration in Sydney at the official opening of the combined White Bay 6 Marine Park and Baileys Marine Fuel Facility, which will provide an invaluable service to the Sydney Harbour maritime community including commercial fishing vessels, commercial vessels, charter vessels and recreational vessels.

There's plenty of activity in other markets too, with Auckland set to benefit from massive investment in its superyacht sector. Waterfront Auckland has announced it will progress plans for a new development to complement the recent building of six new berths Silo Marina, on the Westhaven side of the Wynyard Quarter.

Congrats too to Neville Chricton of NZ's Alloy Yachts, recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours, bestowed with a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to business and yachting.
Also, warm congratulations to Victoria Smith at AIMEX, recognised for her hard work for exporters in her new role as Operations Manager.
