News that Abu Dhabi's Azzam hit 40+ kts in the Southern Ocean makes you stop and think a bit. OK so it's a burst and not a sustained speed, but it's getting seriously close to that magical 50kt number, on a fully crewed big boat. But think of the wind chill factor!

AC China Team seem to change skippers about as often as Italy change Prime Ministers, and after a blistering start to the Congressional Cup, Gavin Brady is having to look over his shoulder at a fast-charging Ian Williams.

Phuket Boat Show (PIMEX) is open for business this weekend, and the Clipper fleet is going in to 'sprint' mode.

Singapore and New York have both crossed the finish line of the sprint. America's Cup: San Francisco Board approves Cup Agreement

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors today approved by a majority of 11-0, the agreement to host the America's Cup in San Francisco September 7 to 22, 2013. The San Francisco agreement calls for teams to be based at Piers 30/32 and for the America's Cup Village – the public Race Headquarters – at Piers 27/29.
