Amazing technology - now you can sit on a boat five miles offshore reporting on a yacht race.

We noted this morning that the iPad 3 now just a week or two from launch is expected to have more than twice the detail of the existing iPad 2, and the iPhone 5 is expected to have as much detail as the average 15 inch laptop, and the other brands of tablets and smart phones are on the same track.

We had predicted this development a couple of years ago, but as always it seems technology is moving faster than expected.

Magazine quality online is going to make it harder and harder for the print world but great for the online sailing audience with images and video set to ratchet up a notch on Sail-World, with new super fast servers high on our priority list.

Race 4 in the Etchells Worlds is not far away, so we better press the button on this and get ready to cover it.
