 Fishers' $20m suit, Maritime Council, Ethanol farming not enviro issueSo much news this week, lucky we have the space to accommodate.
NSW Minister for Roads and Ports Duncan Gay has chosen an 11-member Maritime Advisory Council, after seeking expressions of interest last year and receiving more than 40 responses from a wide range of the boating community. Their role will be to 'ensure that boating issues are heard clearly within Transport for NSW. It will guide the work of the Office of Boating Safety within Transport for NSW and the service delivery by Roads and Maritime Services'. Club Marine has signed on again as sponsor for the 4x4 Outdoor and Tinnie & Tackle Show in Brisbane, March 23-25 – one of the largest events to be held in River City and certainly a fixture on the Queensland boat show calendar. The Bones will be attending, planning to upgrade grandpa's RIB this year for enhanced fishing fun!

Gladstone fishers have banded together to commission a private marine vet to investigate the sick seafood in their region, coinciding with launch of compensation claim that is estimated to be around $20m against Gladstone Ports and Qld government.

The NSW Government's E10 decisions are ebbing and flowing, we have the latest news but there is still much of concern for the marine industry, as the still legislated aim of 6% ethanol overall is going to reduce standard fuel availability, regardless of this backdown. We have the latest comments this morning.

The first of several world-class attractions that will be on show at Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, 24-27 May have been announced – the JetLev (something out of 007's kit!), the Ego semi-sub from Korea and the extraordinary Seabreacher X. Not only are they marine industry innovators, the Ego is seeking local distribution, while Seabreacher and JetLev are both conducting their Australian launches at the show.
