Boat sales snap shot, London celeb pizzaz, Gladstone mystery solved? | | Kayaking on Coila Lake Tuross Head Jeni Bone | Happy 2012 to one and all! Hope you had a relaxing break and spent plenty of time on the water or getting others involved in boating. For my part, I discovered muscles I hadn't used since childhood and am now a competent kayak paddler, though my fishing rod remained idle. It was hard enough dodging jelly fish and ignoring the Jaws soundtrack that plays in the imaginations of people of a certain generation . . . In all, we paddled, splashed, prawned and enjoyed sunrises over beaches and lakes of the south coast of NSW, then took in the coastal scenery from Tuross to the Gold Coast on our 16 hour+ drive over three days odyssey - some places more tranquil than others at this peak time of year.
As I write this parts of Australia are sweltering miserably, other parts just lapping up the more reasonable sunshine. Wherever we are under this southern hemisphere summer sun, it seems the weather has a lot to do with boat sales. This week, we take a lap around Australia to see how dealers are taking advantage of the start of summer, their strategies and impressions of public sentiment, and what they hope is in store for 2012.
There is a variety of stories on hand this week - and a heap more in the tube, so standby for an excellent and business-focused start to this wonderful New Year. It's all ahead of us!
Here's to a positive and fun-laden 2012!
