Sanctuary Cove survey prize winner, Volvo drives record trafficIt's great to make people happy! At Sanctuary Cove yesterday, the winner of the massive prize package from the inaugural visitor survey at Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show 2011 received his prizes. While Aussie men are apt to be grateful politely and without fuss, you can't put a lid on kids and their enthusiasm!
So it was with Harrison, aged 4, who was equal parts in awe and ecstatic about his haul: a Zodiac Cadet 7.3' inflatable, complete with Honda 5hp engine, and 6 x RFD Cyclone 150N jackets and 1 Kannad 406 EPIRB, 6 x Liquid Image Goggles, the world's only swim mask with an integrated waterproof digital camera, from Active Out There.
He was especially smitten with the goggles and we hope to see some stills and some moving vision of their summer holiday!

Roger and family also won a $500 voucher from Australian-made nautical leisure wear Shock & Oar, 6 pairs of polarised sunglasses from BarzOptics and 4 pairs of Sperry boat shoes AND a trip for 2 to Hayman Great Barrier Reef, along with Airfares and transfers to Hayman Island. The package includes 3 nights accommodation for 2 people in a fabulous Pool Deluxe Room overlooking the famous Hayman Pool and tropical gardens, daily buffet breakfast in Azure, fronting the Hayman Beach and access to plenty of activities and experiences on this superlative island resort.
The results of the visitor survey will be available shortly.
We are already working on next year's, so plan to get your entry in, either at Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, 24-27 May 2012, or online post-event.
Also this week, plenty to keep you reading, including the wrap up from Tauranga Boat Expo in NZ and Queensland's Gold Coast Marine Expo, both taking place this past weekend to positive industry and public response.
There's an update from the Volvo Ocean Race and great news from sister site, Sail-World.com that Australia is considered a very strong chance for another Olympic Gold medal in London in a class it had not expected next year.
Analysts predict we have realistic chances in six Olympic classes, meaning that Sailing could well again be number 2 Olympic sport for Australia. The upside for that is more TV coverasge, more Aussie heros and a surge in popularity at all levels of the sport, and a spotlight on yachting, competitive, cruising and just for fun.
