US Sailings report on the Chicago Mackinac Race found that the Kiwi 35 Wing Nuts was 'a highly inappropriate boat' for the race. The impact of that report will no doubt be felt across the North American sailing scene for many years as did the Sydney Hobart coronial inquiry after 1998.
Looking towards Perth 2011 we've been talking to Victor Kovalenko in the last few days. We think you will find our interview with the Olympic super-coach a good read.
Bruce Kirby the designer of the iconic Laser, now some 200,000+ boats on, has been soundly rebuffed by 1100 Laser Class sailors in an ILCA fundamental rule change vote. It will be interesting to see where this one goes, as the implications for every One design fleet and boat designers world-wide are probably more than ISAF wants to even think about.
