Rolex Middle Sea Race Fleet head towards notorious Messina Strait KPMS, Rolex Middle Sea Race - Overnight, the fleet parked up off the coast of Sicily near Catania – in the shadows of Mount Etna. So far, Esimit Europa 2 (SLO) and Rán (GBR) were the lone boats to have slipped through the Messina Strait, Esimit around 0330 Sunday morning, followed by Rán at 0830. Sailrocket 2 - Getting used to 50 knots Paul Larsen, Well yesterday turned into a pretty wild day. The way the morning was unfolding we knew the wind was going to outperform the forecast. Sailrocket 2 had up to now done four runs within a knot of 50 knots. Two over and two under.
