The Clipper yachts are headed to Geraldton, Western Australia, on their round the world voyage, the Extreme 40s are gearing up for another round in Almeria, Spain, lots of activity from the Volvo Ocean Race starters and the TP52 World Championship is nearing completion in Porto Cervo.

Local sailing news from the Flying Fifteens, Solos, Contenders, B14, RS Fevas and National 12 classes along with news from the Match Racing Championships, the OK Dinghy Inlands and the Northern Schools Sailability Regatta.

Global Ocean Race fleet enter Cape Verde Islands

Global Ocean Race leader Campagne de France reached the Cape Verde Islands shortly before midnight on Wednesday after ten days of racing in Leg 1 from Mallorca to Cape Town. The Flying Fifteen Western Championships took place in Larne over the weekend and were hosted by East Antrim Boat and Yacht Club. 22 crews descended on the town in what was the last event of the season. Two weeks after having the America's Cup Event Authority block Youtube video of the America's Cup World Series in to New Zealand, TVNZ's General Manager of Sport, Murray Needham has admitted that the Youtube coverage published by Sail-World.com did not breach copyright and that claims made by him to that effect were incorrect.... TP52 World Championships - The long wait for wind on the Costa Smeralda was rewarded with enough for just one late afternoon windward-leeward race. A first win in the colours of new sponsor Paramount Park Murcia (ESP) for the Spanish team headed up by Ignacio Triay promoted the crew to step clear at the top of a tight leaderboard with a margin of just one point ahead of Tony Langley's Gladiator... B14 Inland Championships - On both mornings the great expanse of water at Queen Mary Reservoir was flat calm but on both days a fair sailing breeze appeared early afternoon giving us two races each day. The RS100 EuroTour event in L'Estartit, Spain began day three amid hot and sunny conditions and with no wind, the sailors were held ashore hoping for the normal lunchtime breeze to appear before a 14:30 cut off.
