Can Beyou hold out, IDEC flips and all the latest sailing news

Welcome to the latest edition of our Sail-World.com European newsletter.

Francis Joyon's maxi trimaran IDEC has flipped at the start of Joyon's solo Atlantic record attempt. The damage is being assessed and the vessel will be towed back to Newport. Stay tuned for more as it comes to hand.

Francis Joyon's IDEC leaving New York on her Atlantic record attempt

For the 44 sailors participating in La Solitaire du Figaro the Dieppe finish line for the fourth leg is approaching, but who will be the winner? Jérémie Beyou (BPI) still holds the overall first ranking, but Fabien Delahaye (Port de Caen Ouistreham), Erwan Tabarly (Nacarat) and Nicolas Lunven (Generali) could yet challenge his position.

The Audi MedCup Region of Murcia Trophy is underway, albeit slowly due to the weather, while the Clipper Round the World Yachts are making their way to Rio.

At the recent RC44 Sweden Cup it was a battle to the finish, the sixteen teams enjoying great competition in this tough one design class. In the end Team Aqua just held out Ceeref.

From the other side of the world we have some great images of the 18ft Skiffs flying around San Francisco Bay and be sure not to miss the latest videos, images news and views from around the sailing world.
