Welcome to Sail-World Canada
News from Chester Race Week!
Tiny Chester Yacht Club, an hour's drive outside of Halifax, NS is currently host to the annual Chester Race Week, the largest keel boat regatta in Canada. Weather has not been cooperating but sailors are still having fun and enjoying the great hospitality that makes CRW such a popular destination. We share early reports and will have more over the week-end as the event progresses.
Gold Coast Australia was first to cross the finish line in Madeira and secure a victory in the first race of leg one of the Clipper Round the World race. The racers are taking a short break in Portugal before rejoining their boats today for the next leg of the race across the Atlantic to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
You can now follow all the action from the America's Cup World Series in Cascais, Portugal LIVE on Sail-World.com, simply click the video in the 'Watch the World Series live on Sail-World' news story! The 34th America's Cup organizers have announced a new media partnership with YouTube that will bring the new high tech video wizardry from the America's Cup Television team directly to YouTube's powerful media and live stream capability. Both sides of the partnership anticipate exciting developments over the coming months.
Toronto's Royal Canadian Yacht Club is host to the 2011 IRC North American Championship Regatta this week-end, where 57 entries will race in five divisions. The Canadian venue makes it easy for many Ontario yachts to participate; as a result, the number of Canadian entries far exceeds USA yachts this year. We'll share results as they become available.
Finally, congratulations to the Canadian crew of Usual Suspect for winning the coveted Chicago Mackinac Cup in the 103rd Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac last month. Usual Suspect, owned by Bryan Sims, sails from Bronte Harbour Yacht Club in Oakville, ON.
Safe boating to all!
