The Clipper 2011-12 Round the World Yacht Race, the eighth edition of this biennial event, started last Sunday from Southampton on the south coast of England. We have more images and the latest news from the teams getting ready for the America's Cup World Series in Cascais, Portugal, this week-end. I can't remember the last time I saw most competitors wearing helmets while racing; this definitely promises to be different! More at www.americascup.com
The IRC Canadian Championships were held at the Port Credit Yacht Club this past week-end during the annual Lake Yacht Racing Association regatta where 28 competitors raced in four divisions; RCYC's John McLeod and his J-133 Hot Water won IRC 0 with six bullets in nine races, PCYC's Chris Rypkema at the helm of his Beneteau 40.7 Umi Taka won IRC 1, ABYC's Stephen Trevitt was first in IRC 2 on board his J/35 Crime Scene while the Hunter Legend 37, Five-Fifteen, of Jim McGuiness from HYC rounded the winners in IRC 3.
