Welcome to Sail-World Canada
The Clipper Round the World yachts are ready to go!
The Audi MedCup Region of Sardinia Trophy, the third regatta out of five events in the Audi MedCup Circuit, just wrapped up in the Gulf of Cagliari, Sardinia where the German/French team Audi Sailing Team Powered by All4One took first place in the hotly contested TP52 class. The Spanish Soto 40 Iberdrola Team scored five bullets to win their class easily. We come back to the Iberian peninsula for round four in late August when Cartagena, Spain plays host to the circuit.
All ten international entries in the Clipper Round the World 11-12 Race arrived in the Southampton Ocean Village this evening as the excitement builds for Sunday's big start. First leg id from the UK to Brazil
The Albacore International Regatta returns to the waters of Lake Ontario on September 16 - 23, 2011, drawing top international sailors and Olympians from a variety of classes. This year, Canada hosts the 20th event of its kind held bi-annually at venues alternating between the United Kingdom and North America.
Only eight days to go before the America's Cup World Series in Cascais, Portugal, the first of a series of 13 regattas being staged before the 34th America's Cup with three events scheduled for 2011. All 13 regattas will be sailed in the AC45 catamarans, the 45ft one design catamaran with a wingsail, a smaller version of the 72ft catamaran to be eventually used in the Louis Vuitton and America's Cups in San Francisco proposed to start in mid-2013. Eight teams will be on the start line in Cascais, where literally all aspects of racing will be ‘experimental', from team preparation on new yachts to course setup and media coverage. This promises to be exciting! We have images of the teams at work on shore and one water.
With less than a 100 days before the start of the Volvo Ocean Race, seven teams are ready to go and we bring you the latest in images and video.
Closer to home, the IRC Canadian Championships are being held at the Port Credit Yacht Club this week-end in collaboration with the Lake Yacht Racing Association annual regatta; the IRC North Americans are being held at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club later in August. Fast boat racing at its best on lake Ontario, stay tuned for the results!
Safe boating to all!
