Welcome to this week's edition of Sail-World.com's UK newsletter.

Sail-World.com, the world's largest international sailing network, has today launched its Facebook site. Jeraldine Kennedy, Sail-World UK and European Editor explained 'Sail-World's Facebook wall will have key selections from the nine Sail-World sites world-wide posted as well as providing the opportunity for Fans to get to know the Editors.

'We have already posted feature stories from many of our editors world-wide for the last six months, going forward we will be adding key stories each day.

'On our Facebook site, you will find photos of the Sail-World Team and their bios. A very interesting mix of sailing backgrounds and a lot of journalism, writing, photographing and video experience.

'We will shortly add links to our full photo-gallery, our video-gallery. We trust you will ‘Like' Sail-World on Facebook.'

A very busy week of sailing too.

The ISAF Youth World Championships are underway in Zadar, Croatia and the premier event on the World Youth sailing calendar has launched many successful Olympic careers. There is action aplenty too at the 2011 Open Europeans in Helsinki, with the 470, 49er and Finn classes underway.

The fifth stage of the World Match Racing Tour, Stena Match Cup Sweden, resulted in a win for Great Britain's Ian Williams, who defeated Sweden's Bjorn Hansen in a five match final. Williams scored his second consecutive win of the 2011 Tour.

470 European Championships day 2. In the 470 Womens fleet, a real tumble down the standings for the overnight leaders Tina Mrak/Teja Cerne (SLO) who finished sixteenth in race 3, but were black flagged in race 4, points which can only be discarded after five races have been completed.... [more]

Fireball Northern Circuit had an exciting start with varying winds and tenacious competition. Last year's winners were left to look to Blackpool in September for another chance at top honours. Cowes-Dinard St Malo Race overall win to Uxorious IV
Royal Ocean Racing Club,
Colin Buffin's Swan 62, Uxorious IV, was the overall winner of the Cowes-Dinard St Malo Race winning the prestigious Edward VII Cup. There was another good battle in IRC Zero, Franck Noel's Swiss TP52, Near Miss, took line honours and the class on handicap from Dutch skipper, Harm Prins' Volvo 60, Pleomax.... [more]

International Moth Nationals 201. On the final day conditions at the 10am launch were barely foiling at all, but by the 10.30am start time, it was building nicely to 10 knots. The sun obliged and the breeze stayed up around 10-12 knots for the whole occasion.... [more]

J/80 Worlds win to Ignacio Camino

After four days, nine races of great sailing Spanish sailors swept the top four of five spots. The new World Champion is Ignacio Camino's team sailing Nextel Engineering. The beat a world-class group of multiple Olympic Medallists and World Champions from multiple classes. second was Jose Maria van der Ploeg, third Carlos Martinez and fourth Rayco Tabares. America's Cup: Video of Emirates Team NZ sailing the SL33

Sadly this year was anything but perfect with an all but nonexistent wind drifting across the reservoir from every point of the compass.
