Emirates Team NZ staged a significant come from behind victory in the last leg of the last race in the Extreme Sailing Series, being staged in Boston USA over Independence Weekend.
In doing so they pipped one of the serious Challengers for the 34th America's Cup.
We carry daily reports, images and video from the Series in this edition of Sail-World.
The win is significant, not just because it is a win, but it is a fact that two former monohull teams are battling it out at the top of what is arguably the world's strongest multihull competition. Not only are there two other former America's Cup teams in the regatta, but there are numerous Olympic catamaran sailors, medalists, and world champions in the fleet.

Further Emirates Team NZ scored their win without regular, and catamaran guru, Glenn Ashby - as part of their program to build a deep team ahead of the step into the AC72 next year.
In this edition we feature a story on the omission or non-selection of the New Zealand Womens Match Racing crew for the Olympic Test event being staged in Weymouth, England, next month. The team finished just four points off eighth place in the ISAF World Sailing Cup final standings, despite missing the final event in Kiel, Germany. Teams all the way down to 17th in the World Cup standings (used to select the teams for the 12 available places in Weymouth) will be at the regatta.

In this edition the three sailors involved in Koru Match respond to the Yachting New Zealand decision.
Coming up on www.sail-world.com we expect to have a story on the Australian WMR selection - where a skipper who has been on the helm for just a month will be sailing in the Pre-Olympics.

The Viaduct Harbour in Auckland is often the centre of world sailing attention - mainly off the back of America's Cup action. In this edition we have a gallery of images taken in Lorient, France where a centre has been established to be the base for the numerous French offshore sailing teams. It is a glittering array of monohull and multihull hardware, along with their professional sailing teams, and the businesses that are associated with this high profile side of the sport.
