Sail-World New Zealand: 3 July 2011
 | | Emirates Team New Zealand - Day 2 Boston Extreme Sailing Series Lloyd Images © | Welcome to Sail-World.com's New Zealand newsletter for 3 July 2011
We have an eclectic mix of news from around the world in this edition, including classic Eight and Twelve Metres racing in Germany, some of whom are over 100 years old. One is helmed by King Harald of Norway.
At the other end of the sailing spectrum we have the latest news images and plenty of video from the Extreme Sailing series, currently underway in Boston USA.
Plus we carry the format, just announced, of the Louis Vuitton Cup which will precede the 2013 America's cup in San Francsico.
Quite how many of the class of 2011, will make it through to the main Event remains to be seen. We have a preview of the first of the America's Cup World Series regattas which gets underway in Cascais, Portugal in early August.

Don't miss the first of Dean Barker's reports for Nexus in this edition, from the Extreme 40's. We'll be continuing daily coverage on www.sail-world.com of this event.
Staying with Emirates Team New Zealand, there's a report from one of their mid-winter training spins in the Hauraki Gulf. It's wet, wet, wet.

On Friday, the NZL Sailing Team for the Pre-Olympics were presented with their competitors bibs in the NZL Sailing Team colours. In this edition we have images from the announcement and have a brief look at one of the omissions in the team which will compete in nine of the ten events.
That series, too gets underway in early August in Weymouth, England.
