Extreme 40 crash video, Delta Lloyd and more sailing news

Welcome to our latest edition of Sail-World.com's European newsletter.

Fast and furious action this week as the Extreme 40s completed Act 3 in Istanbul. These flying machines push their crews to the limit and the crash between Team Extreme and Alinghi was spectacular. Sail-World.com has the video plus all the latest news from the event which was won by Artemis Racing.

Competition at the Delta Lloyd Regatta was fierce with many Olympic hopefuls from around the globe competing in Holland. Gold to the Dutch Team Groeneveld who defeated Silje Lehtinen from Finland in the Womens Match Racing.
Gold also to Thierry Schmitter (NED) in the 2.4 class and to Marit Bouwmeester (NED) in the Laser Radial. Lisa Westerhof and Lobke Berkhout (NED) also won Gold in the Womens 470.

Match Race Germany was sailed on Lake Constance with Francesco Bruni and his Bruni Racing crew claiming their first title on the World Match Racing Tour.

Zbigniew ‘Gutek' Gutkowski made it into the history books as the first Polish skipper to race single-handed around the world when he completed the Velux 5 Oceans onboard Operon Racing, despite injury and damage to his boat. Well done Gutek!

The Platu 25 Worlds and the Portuguese 420 Championships are just underway while the Access Class European Championships on Lake Garda have finished for another year. Zoltan Pegan and Eva Mircsev (Hungary) retained their Access 303 Two-Person title.
