Corbella set to make history ... the latest sailing news

Welcome to this week's edition of our Sail-World.com Europe newsletter.

Anna Corbella and Dee Caffari are approaching the finish line of the Barcelona World Race. When Anna arrives in Barcelona she will become the first Spanish woman to circumnavigate the globe non-stop. The GAES girls will arrive in sixth place.

Other finishers this week include Renault ZE (third), Estrella Damm (fourth) and Neutrogena (fifth).

The ISAF World Cup Overall Standings after three events have just been released. Marina Alabau (ESP) leads the ISAF Sailing World Cup Women's RS:X Standings and Marit Bouwmeester (NED) tops the Laser Radial Standings. We have all the news from the third event of the World Cup, the Trofeo SAR Princesa Sofia Mapfre, which has just concluded in Palma, Spain.

Velux 5 Oceans sailor Zbigniew ‘Gutek' Gutkowski is heading to port after breaking a forestay on his Eco 60 yacht Operon Racing.

We have the latest from the America's Cup participants, including high speed wipeout videos and images.

America's Cup: AC45 high speed wipeout video's and images

Last week, Oracle Racing were out training on the Hauraki Gulf in strong-to-high winds between 25 and 35 knots with a sea running. They were sailing off the wind under North Head when a strong puff hit. The leeward bow dug in the water and the trampoline was nearly engulfed before control was regained, before the distribution of buoyancy in the hull allowed the bow to pop out and avert calamity.... Olympic yachtsman found dead in plane + Video

One of New Zealand's top sailors - 1968 Olympic representative and 1958 Price of Wales Trophy winner, Geoff Smale, has been found dead in the cockpit of his crashed microlight.
