Dominque Wavre (SUI) and Michèle Paret's (FRA) Mirabaud was dismasted during a storm and Groupe Bel (Kito de Pavant and Sébastien Audigane) abandoned the race after keel damage.

Hannah Jenner and Anna-Maria Renken (GER) have secured the charter of the Class40, 40 Degrees, for the double-handed Global Ocean Race 2011-12 which starts in September. The pair will sail 40 Degrees double-handed to the Azores as their GOR qualifying voyage.
