Boating news from the Asia Pacific
Anyone out there recommend an efficient psychiatric ward?
That's where I'll be headed unless there's a break in the deluge swamping Queensland and coastal regions at present.
Barely a day goes by without heavy rainfall, with rivers at peak height, residents busy filling sandbags to boost levees beaches being seriously eroded and the boating industry being severely hampered.
And not a thing we mere mortals can do about it.

On with the news; Kiwi ace Warwick Lupton has put it to the Aussie contingent at the UIIM World Hydroplane championships and the powerboat racing competitors, including the New Zealanders, mourns the loss of another driver.
Popular John Cross, 47-year-old pilot of the Blown Alcohol Displacement boat, ‘Rival', dead after a shocking accident.
One can only lament that's racing.
The loss of John Cross makes three fatalities this year, following on from the loss of champion drivers Brian McCosker and American Dave Bryant at Taree last Easter.
While one must admit there is an element of danger associated with all forms of motor sport, not just powerboat racing, the sad fact of life is that we will lose five times or lives on the nation's highways every weekend than powerboat racing claims.
Life, however, goes on; many sectors of the industry are slowing down as we approach the Christmas season.
Marine Auctions will stage its final sale for 2010 this coming weekend, with more than 30 vessels scheduled to go under the hammer at the Runaway Bay Marina on the Queensland Gold Coast.
We shall keep you informed of its results.
Plenty more to maintain your interest within the pages of Powerboast-World.
Let me close by extending deepest sympathy to the family, friends and fellow competitors of the late John Cross.
Our thoughts are with you.
