Welcome to Sail-World.com's New Zealand newsletter for 4 August 2010
In this edition we conclude the second part of the series looking at sailing and television and our discussion with Paul France, producer of the New Zealand coverage of the 1987 Louis Vuitton and America's Cups in Fremantle.
In today's commentary, we look at how sailing can maybe pull itself out of the rut that it seems to be in for broadcasting of the Olympic sailing regatta. Last place is not where anyone wants to be in TV viewing statistics, and something different clearly needs to happen.
Paul France gives his ideas in this edition.
Off Cowes, another round of America's Cup style racing is about to get underway with the 1851 Cup being contested between Britain's TeamOrigin, and BMW Oracle Racing against the backdrop of the Cowes Week Regatta.

The Volvo Ocean Race received some welcome, if overdue news, with the announcement of the skipper of the Abu Dhabi team which will be a joint effort with a top British skipper. We have the details in this edition.

The change is a big improvement and we have been using it ourselves for story and image compilation - very simple.
