Welcome to Sail-World Canada

A Challenging Susan Hood Trophy Race

A tradition for more than 50 years, the Susan Hood Trophy Race was witness to growing popularity of offshore racing on Lake Ontario; 75 yachts answered the call and showed up for the first overnight race of the season on the lake. As usual, the race dished out its challenging weather conditions, only it wasn't the cold in 2010 but rather, some amazing thunderstorms that kept the crews entertained. Everyone got back safe and sound to talk about the incredible display of lightning!

After a second place finish in New York City, Cape Breton Island hopes to be the first Clipper Round the World participant to win the leg into their home port; the fleet left the Hudson river earlier this week on their way to Sydney, Nova Scotia. where they are expected by the end of the week.

Diane Reid, Toronto's own One Girl Ocean Challenge is taking part in the Bermuda Ocean Race on June 11th; the event is another step in her preparation for the 2011 Mini Transit race; the race tracker should be available soon at http://www.bermudaoceanrace.com/ Good luck Diane!

I would also like to welcome David Schmidt to the Sail-World family; David is joining us as the Sail-World USA editor.
