Sail-World New Zealand: 18 January 2010

The vital Signature page from the Final Draft of the Singapore Agreement - whose moniker is missing?
Welcome to Sail-World.Com's New Zealand newsletter for 18 January 2010.

In this edition we feature final reports and images from three major regattas staged in New Zealand.

From Naval Point Sailing Club in Christchurch, Sutter Schumacher continues her excellent coverage of the 2010 Davie Norris Starling Nationals and Tauranga Cup. We have full reports and images of the two regattas in this edition.

Our congratulations to 2010 Starling National Champion, Logan Dunning-Beck (Wakatere) and Tauranga Cup winner, Jayvee Buchanan (Charteris Bay).

Russell Davis and Garrick Cameron have been on the case of the Barfoot and Thompson 50th 12ft Interdominion which went down to the wire on the final race.

Great to see the classic 12fter Nimble at the Auckland Sailing Club on Saturday. Sail-World's camera was there to catch the magnificent work of Robert Brooke and Brian Peet (foils).

As the clock ticks on the 33rd America's Cup a flurry of Open Letters have been issued by the Defender and Challenger in an endeavour to get some sort of action on the document known as the Singapore Agreement. That piece of negotiation seems to contain the key to resolution of five issues standing between a Deed of Gift event, and a regatta conducted under Mutual Consent - meaning that the yacht which wins the contest on the water will be declared the winner, and planning for the 34th America's Cup can begin.

This morning after the latest round of flip-flop sailing diplomacy, we talked to BMW Oracle Racing's Russell Coutts to get his perspective on the situation. We have also obtained the vital signature page of the Singapore Agreement, which tends to show just who really did cease the negotiations - if in the bizarre world of the 33rd America's Cup, they really stopped at all.
