Welcome to Sail-World.Com's New Zealand newsletter for 30 November 2009

The Sunseeker Australia Cup has concluded in Perth with a win for Torvar Mirsky (AUS) with Ben Ainslie (GBR) second. We have reports on the weekend's racing in this edition. Now the crews head off for the Monsoon Cup, the final round in the World Match Racing Tour for 2009, and the one carrying the biggest purse on the circuit.

We have daily reports from BlackMatch Racing in this edition, and will carry further updates on www.sail-world.com as they come to hand.

There's plenty of local news in this edition, with all contributions coming via our direct submission system, which is working well, and is a great opportunity to get publicity for your club, class or event.

In this edition we have stories from the Paper Tigers in Ngaroto, great to see they had such a large entry. The Upto26 Club is having an open day at Baywaster next weekend. Racing in this size of yacht, notably the Quarter Ton class is becoming increasing popular overseas, and the fleets are building in New Zealand, too.

Half Moon Bay and Howick Rotary Club are looking for assistance to stage their charity regatta, if you can help the contact details are in this edition.

Bakewell-White Yacht Design has scored a top performance, with a recent line honours win by a 36fter Alfresco, in the 280nm Fremantle to Geraldton. The smallest boat in division one showed the way home to the 50ft fleet. Hitting speeds in excess of 28kts Alfresco was ahead of the Volvo60 race record at the three-quarter race distance. On the America's Cup scene, BMW Oracle Racing have announced they are shutting up shop in San Diego and shipping BOR90 to Valencia. Meanwhile in Ras al-Khaimah, Alinghi has emerged from the boatbuilding shop, with a longer sprit. In this edition, designer Grant Simmer explains why.

And staying with sailing in the UAE, Auckland sailor Tim Snedden has been mixing it in the RC44 class stepping in to helm on Artemis during the owner-driver phase of the Sea Dubai RC44 Gold Cup. Catch the reports in this edition.
