Step right this way; if you're interested in any and every form of powerboats and power boating, you've come to the right place.

We've got it all for you this week as the wickedly quick jet sprinters through to the equally quick Formula tunnel boats that went ‘to war' on the Manning River.

Compliments are due also to Sydney marine dealership Hunts Marine, which has supplied a Yamaha-powered Quintrex for high schools to conduct on-water boat driver training for students.

It has also won the full support of NSW Maritime and the Boating Industry Association of NSW.

Now if you're fortunate enough to live near Melbourne's Port Phillip Bay, here's some news to immediately grab your attention – the ‘Big Reds', snapper, are on the move and the Department of Fisheries says you'd be mad if you don't go and nail on the top table fish around.

In Sydney town, while it might still be a few weeks away, things are warming up for the world's great blue water classic (sadly, it's for sailboats!), the annual Sydney-Hobart.

As usual, Sydney's magnificent harbour, ‘where 1000 ships of the line can ride safely at anchor' as someone (a Pommie migrant, I think) once said, will be awash with craft of every shape and size imaginable (and that's only the yachts!).

Seriously, NSW Maritime, which does an excellent job in managing the massive fleet which turns out to watch the start, is letting the boating public in on the establishment of the normal exclusion zones so as to give the yachties a clear run the heads.

Like I said, it's all here, we're even open minded enough to mention sailboats.
