Sail-World New Zealand: 15 November 2009

33rd America's Cup - BMW ORACLE Racing - Wing maintenance  Chris Cameron/ETNZ
Welcome Sail-World.Com's New Zealand newsletter for 15 November 2009

In this edition we round up some of the local racing from the weekend, including the Telecom New Zealand Match Racing Championships, and the Auckland Championships for the 18ft skiffs, which opened Sunday off Orakei.

In the Atlantic Franck Cammas and friends abroad Groupama 3 have stubbed their toe dodging fickle winds in an endeavour to quickly reach the Tradewinds in their world circumnavigation attempt for the Jules Verne Trophy.

Emirates Team New Zealand also stubbed their toe, dropping one race in the first round of the Louis Vuitton Trophy, however have come back onto form in the opening race of Round 2.

Yamaha is joint leader at the end of the first racing day in the 2009 Auckland Championships for the 18ft skiffs  Greg Fenwick

We also take a look at the current state of play in the America's Cup Legal saga, after Societe Nautique de Geneve lodged its papers on two matters under Appeal with the Appellate Division of the New York Supreme Court. Like with most things from the America's Cup - all is not what it seems - and Valencia is not yet confirmed as the venue for the 33rd Match.

In San Diego, BMW Oracle Racing continue to work up their wingsail, we have some image galleries of this incredible piece of sailing technology in this edition.

For updates on all these events and more, keep a regular check on our website www.sail-world.com.
