Sail-World USA: 14 November 2009
 | | Bill Bentsen of the USA receives the ISAF Beppe Croce Trophy in Busan, Korea ISAF © | < i>Welcome Sail-World.Com's US newsletter for 14 November 2009
This week, Sail-World Canada launched its first weekly newsletter
As previously announced, Canadian Yachting magazine has formed a strategic alliance with the largest online sailing news network in the world, Sail-World.com.
With a network of editors and contributors worldwide, it delivers local, national and international news in Asia, Australia, Europe, New Zealand, the UK and the US and will now serve Canada.
Sail-World Canada delivers 24/7 online sailing news of both Canadian and international origin to its large Canadian audience, while at the same time distributing Canadian marine news to a worldwide audience.
You can catch the latest North American sailing news on www.sail-world.com/canada as well as www.sail-world.com/usa
There's bit of something for everyone in this issue.
 | | l'hydroptere rips down the measured mile for another world sailing record. Guilain GRENIER/www.martin-raget.com |
If you are into extreme sailing, then see the story and pictures of the French foiler l'Hydroptere as she makes a sets yet another World Speed record mark of over 50kts for the measured mile. Bear in mind that is an average speed sustained for a very long distance.
And you'll probably need to look at the still images and couple of videos of BOR90 sailing off San Diego with her new wing mast. This craft is an awesome sight, and a marvel of sailing technology. They had a bit of a glitch today - we've got that story too.

Staying with the speed freaks, we have daily reports and video from Franck Cammas and friends as they make a very serious attempt aboard Groupama on the round the world speed record, otherwise known as the Jules Verne Trophy. there's some great onboard video as they skip along at over 30 kts with all the nonchalance of being on a harbour cruise.
USA's Bill Bentsen was honoured at the ISAF Annual Conference with the awarding of the Beppe Croce Trophy, the federation's highest accolade for a lifetime of achievement and service to the sport. The double Olympic medalist has given many years of service to the sport including serving for 25 years on the ISAF racing Rules Committee. We have the report of the presentation of the award in this edition.
 | | Emirates Team New Zealand lead the way to the finish line in their Round Robin one match against BMW Oracle Racing, Louis Vuitton Trophy, Nice. Chris Cameron/ETNZ |
For the match racers, we are covering the Louis Vuitton Trophy regatta at Nice Cote d'Azur, France, where Emirates Team New Zealand began by giving the other competitors a sailing lesson, with the crew's teamwork being a telling factor. However in the latter srages of the regatta they have not had it all their own way, as the newer teams begin to hit their straps.
And if you have lost the plot on America's Cup Legal, we've got the update on some of the developments on that front, and with a lot more on file, which we hope to be able to let go before too long. Brad Butterworth, skipper of Alinghi gives his view of the state of play, as well.
