Welcome Sail-World.Com's US newsletter for 1 November 2009

The Melges 24 Worlds have come to a conclusion in Annapolis, with USA's Chris Larson taking the title, after going into the final day with a 17 point lead. In this edition, we have reports and images from the regatta as it has unfolded over the past few days.

On Saturday (NZT), the Decisions started flowing from the New York Supreme Court, covering four motions. Essentially it was a good day for the Challenger, Golden Gate YC getting most of their views accepted by the Court, including the major point of rudders being excluded from the Load Water Line calculations.

Justice Shirley Kornreich did spring a major surprise calling for another hearing on Wednesday (Eastern Time), where three experts to be appointed by the Challenger and Defender will be required to answer five questions put to them by Kornreich.

A great idea, but one which may be a little harder to work through in the time available, as we consider in a commentary in this issue.

We also have the Decisions that were handed down, and today the announcement has been made on the US Challenger's choice of expert Juror for the next Hearing in New York on Wednesday.

No announcement yet on the next venue, we expect that later in the week.

Gladwell's Line: Justice Shirley's America's Cup Jury may be flawed
