Farewell Shorty
An emotional day yesterday as the many friends, marine industry colleagues and family of Andrew ‘Shorty' Short were in Sydney for his farewell. | | Andrew Short Andrew Short Marine | Perfect sailing conditions yesterday and the Harbour City was the ideal backdrop for the solemn but celebratory occasion.
The turnout spoke volumes. My colleague, Bob Wonders was there and describes the career, achievements and tributes for this highly regarded marine industry businessman and much loved sailor and family man.
The Nowra facility of Azzura Marine has entered voluntary liquidation, succumbing to the pressure of the GFC, but there are plenty of newcomers, launches and innovation to report, plus a preliminary review of the 1st Asian Superyacht seminar last week in Singapore.
Jessica Watson departed Sydney in a flurry of media, setting sail to chase an elusive record . . . although pundits wonder where precisely it will be recorded, since the World Speed Sailing Record Council has discontinued the category of 'youngest' for any sailing feat. Check out Nancy Knudsen's take on the technicalities and challenges that lie ahead for the 16-year old.
As usual a veritable plethora of stories this week from all parts of the world.
Enjoy all the news this week. Please send me any leads you have and your own news.
