The forthcoming Asia Superyacht Conference (Singapore, 13-14 October) is something very much overdue and very much to be welcomed. The past few years there's so been so much pr fluff and blather about how Asia is about to become the waterbed playground of the yachting super-wealthy (both power and sail) that it's about time a few home truths were aired. Let's start with finding out exactly how many of the new marinas we keep hearing about are operational - really operational - what sort of boats can get into them, and what services they can offer. There's a lot of lip-service paid to the development of boating facilities in Asia, but it often stops there. Maybe someone could apprise a few government officials of the amounts of money that tend to follow Big Boats around - lots - that'd make the authorities wake up a bit!

iShares Cup - Six races and six different winners iShares Cup media,  iShares Cup Kiel Day 2 of the event. Six races were staged, each delivering a different winner. No one team dominated in the tricky conditions, although Pete Cumming's crew on Oman Sail Masirah did enough to stay at the top of the leaderboard with a 17-point lead going into the final day of racing, but they are certainly not invincible and round four of the iShares Cup is still wide open.... Byte CII World Championship - Choy wins Event media,  The new Byte CII World Champion is Darren Choy of Singapore who sailed what can only be described as a perfect series.
