A week of news, views and the Tsunami that never came

In the week that NSW came back to defeat the Maroons (too late, most would chorus) and on the same night, a tsunami was forecast for the east coast – thankfully, it manifest as a swell of not quite a metre – we bring you a selection of stories from around the country and around the world . . . starting with the newly formed AMIF.

Under the guidance of industry stalwart, Barry Jenkins, the new group will “better reflect the needs of its members” and confront the unique challenges that our industry faces at this time. While the BIA of NSW is notably absent, having resigned from AMIF just weeks before, it will proceed with the formation of its charter and as Barry describes: “A renewal of vows” at its forum during the Sydney International Boat Show.

There's some news from our friends at MIAA relating to the collection of data for the Australian Marinas Value Study, which aims to analyze trends and activity around marinas to better quantify their value, as well as plenty of new product launches in the lead up to SIBS.

For those attending the show this year, there is a delectable special offer from Coast, the award-winning restaurant on the lip of Cockle Bay with panoramic views over the marina and city. Specialising in modern Italian cuisine and with a warm, cosy ambience, Coast is offering a fantastic Boat Show special of a 5-course tasting menu for just $55.

See you next week at Sydney's 42nd annual boat show. Good luck to Domenic and his hard-working team.
