Today's issue is dominated by another episode of America's Cup Legal as the Challenger of Record, Golden Gate Yacht Club drags the Defender, Societe Nautique de Geneve into the New York Supreme Court on a Contempt of Court process.

This move was forecast by Sail-World last Friday, and that story has been cited in the papers filed on Monday, in New York, by Golden Gate Yacht Club.

St. Croix Regatta to raise awareness and funds for Local Hospice Care

The St. Croix Yacht Club has announced acceptance of their annual international regatta by the National Hospice Regatta Alliance with fiscal non-profit sponsorship by the St. Croix Foundation. Regatta organizers intend to attract both new sponsors and new racers to this charitable event, while raising awareness and funds for their local hospice, Continuum Care. The Wilson Trophy - 42 teams, 252 sailors sailing 300 races

The British Open Team Racing Championship, taking place this coming weekend, 1 – 3 May at West Kirby Sailing Club, is the undisputed jewel in the crown of international dinghy team racing. - much more commonly known as simply ‘the Wilson Trophy' - 42 teams comprising 252 sailors will sail around 300 individual races over the weekend... Green Dragon finishes in Boston to complete Volvo fleet

Green Dragon finished leg six of the Volvo Ocean Race at 16:08 GMT, after 15 days, 22 hours, 8 minutes and 10 seconds at sea. ISAF publish Guidelines for Prevention of Piracy

The International Sailing Federation (ISAF) announced today the publication of Guidelines for yachts considering a passage through the Gulf of Aden, Yemeni and Somali waters. The International Regulations Commission has been established in accordance with Regulation 41 to provide advice on matters related to the regulation of recreational boats or craft by government actions or otherwise.... Boating enthusiasts turn out for newly combined Sail and Power Show

Yachting New Zealand Board Director and well known yachtsman, Ralph Roberts (MBE and JP) has been awarded the highly prestigious SPARC Lifetime Achievement Award. Roberts, whose involvement with yachting spans decades, was one of three leaders in sport presented the Award at a ceremony for the inaugural New Zealand Sport and Recreation Sector Awards in Hamilton last night.... Volvo Ocean Race - Telefonica Black wins fight for fifth place

The fight for fifth place in leg six of the Volvo Ocean Race went down to the wire today. After a tremendous battle, Telefónica Black crossed the finish ahead of Delta Lloyd and claimed the four points on offer for fifth place, finishing at 0948 GMT (0448 local). Delta Lloyd crossed at 1010 GMT (0510 local). She adds three points to her overall tally.... [more]
