Well, folks, weather-wise it's been a week to remember, with Victoria, indeed all Australia reeling from the bushfire tragedy while in the far north the opposite is the case as torrential rain buckets down.

We take a look at a nasty low off the east coast, too, and warn skippers (and crew) to be wary of conditions along the entire eastern seaboard, particularly if crossing bars or boating near river mouths is likely. Having been out on the sea wall at the mouth of the Macleay River in driving rain and solid winds today, we will be posting more images shortly.

Breaking Bar in Australian East Coast low  Powerboat-World.com ©

Inclement weather was on hand for the fifth and sixth rounds of the ski racing at Wiseman's Ferry as the sport's best fight to win places in the Australian team for the worlds in Belgium.

Former World champ Wayne Mawer handled the conditions like the veteran he is to post two wins; all the results are here.

Also on the home front, Australia's offshore racing crews are putting the final touches to their boats in readiness for the third and fourth rounds of the Offshore Superboat Championships set for Williamstown and Geelong.

Unfortunately, Bill Barry-Cotter, owner of the Maritimo team and winner of seven Class I, titles will not fulfil his wish to return to the race circuit

We can only hope the Australians meet with better weather than their Kiwi counterparts; across the ditch, the Rayglass NZ Powerboat championships were postponed due to heavy seas and generally poor conditions.

Finally, a word of warning to all skippers; NSW Maritime will be conducting audits state-wide over the next few days, targeting safety equipment, life jackets and ensuring those intending to make a bar crossing know what they're doing.

Boating safety officers are also on the lookout for excessive wash; if you've ever been aboard a small boat when a big cruiser blasts past at wide open throttle you'll hope they come down hard on the inconsiderate skippers.

Plenty to read, plenty to talk about and as usual it's all here on Powerboat-World.com

We update the site regularly, so don't sit around waiting for next week's issue, drop by on a regular basis and keep your finger on the pulse of powerboat matters.
