Powerboat news on the local scene has been scarce this week, no doubt due to the imminent arrival of the big fellow in the Santa suit. Nonetheless, for powerboat fans you have indeed come to the right place.

We've got all the hot racing news from the Middle East, we take a look at an astonishing production powerboat, the'XRS 48' which is capable of topping 75 knots (85.5mph). Hard to believe, but this amazing vessel defeated a Ferrari Daytona over a 250 mile course!

This week we have everything from the F1 circuit to Fish eyes.

Earthrace, that amazing 78' trimaran, is now making her way down the Queensland coast and I'll be on board for part of her trip and will bring an up close and personal look at this quite astonishing bio-diesel powered vessel and her equally amazing skipper Pete Bethune.

Earlier this week I was able to finish a book I have been reading and if ever a publication was an absolute must for the nautical library, this is it. It's titled ‘Iron Fist' and sub titled ‘The Lives of Carl Kiekhaefer, Industrial Caesar of a Marine Industry Empire.'

Written by best-selling US author Jeffrey L.Rodengen, ‘Iron Fist' joins other superb publications produced by the author, among them ‘The Legend of Chris-Craft' and ‘Johnson and Evinrude, the Legend of OMC.'

Do yourself a favour and grab this book, it's virtually the story of the marine industry as we know it today.

A good read, just like Powerboat-World.com

Enjoy, drop by regularly and keep your finger on the pulse of all that's happening or likely to happen on the powerboat scene.
