Boats and Boating News

This week Powerboat-World features Adelaide’s CYCSA, the beating heart of Adelaide’s boating community.

Over the last three weeks, Powerboat-World has been covering the Pasha Bulker, the 40,000 tonne giant that ran aground on Nobby’s Beach at Newcastle during storms. The Pasha Bulker is worth US$50 million according to its Japanese owners.

For the same money you can buy a 180 foot Superyacht, take a look at the specifications on the Bugatti powered Poseidon 180 which has 185,000 litre fuel tanks. Tough on the credit card at the fuel wharf.

Looking at alternative fuels, the New Zealand built and crewed biodiesel fuelled Earthrace is now finishing repairs after splitting her hull soon after leaving Gibraltar mid-way through her round the world record attempt. Earthrace is setting out on a whistle stop tour around Europe, ahead of another Round The World attempt in 2008.

Boat Shows abound. Today the Big Chill Cooler sponsored Gold Coast show commences and already underway is the Club Marine Melbourne Boat Show.

In an innovative move, Victoria’s Aussie Boat Sales have donated 150 Melbourne Boat Show tickets to the Western Bulldogs’ (AFL Team) ‘Pedigree Pups’ school holiday program.
