The Volvo Ocean Race fleet has finally reached Rio - ABN Amro One taking the gun. Now focus will switch to the in-port activities with the Volvo Extreme 40 catamarans arriving for the second leg of their Series.

In the UK the RYA Dinghy Show was a great success for the more than 80 classes on display and with have lots of coverage and photos here.

As the European season starts to come out of mothballs the Australian and US scene is still going strong. The TP52 are holding their championship as part of Acura Race Week and the Star class had a ninty plus entry for the Bacardi Cup - latest news on all those events here.

In the UK the JPMorgan Winter Challenge is in the final stages at Queen Mary SC and the big-boat scene will be in action at Warsash this weekend.

Dane and Sperry (USA) win Star Bacardi Cup
