NYYC Invitational Cup 2011 Jan Harley
New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup presented by Rolex starts tomorrow and continues until September 17, 2011. One of the most anticipated sailing events of the year the organizers are set to deliver another sensational event as the second running of this international competition gets underway.

Competitors have been steadily arriving in Newport, R.I., throughout the past week and many, through two practice races, today had their first opportunity to sail on the Swan 42s that will be used in the competition.

Armchair sailors, whether on the other side of Newport harbor or the other side of the globe, can follow the racing this week by checking out the new event website. Configured to be 'mobile friendly,' the event site includes information on the 22 competing yacht club teams, crew lists, photos and news. You can follow along on Twitter or 'Like' the event on Facebook. Once racing begins, live race tracking via Kattack, blog posts and daily video will become available on the event website.
