Proud sponsor of Emirates Team New Zealand, Nespresso have teamed up with the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron to support the next generation of America’s Cup sailors.

As principal partner of the National Youth Training Week at Kawau Island, Nespresso are investing in the best young sailors in the country with ten teams of four sailors in attendance from clubs stretching from Kerikeri to Wanaka.

Nespresso, the pioneers of premium portioned coffee, represent the best in their field and this new partnership with the RNZYS helps build already skilled sailors into the best they can be.

'It is incredible to see the skill and sailing knowledge of these young teams in action. We are so proud to be involved with Emirates Team New Zealand and equally, to now be able to support the next generation to be able to defend the Cup when it is rightly returned to our shores', says Guillaume Chesneau, Nespresso Country Manager New Zealand.

The intensive week of training on Kawau Island gave young sailors the opportunity to receive intensive theoretical and practical instruction in the various aspects of keelboat racing on the Squadron’s fleet of 10 Elliot 7 metre yachts.

The week finished with all teams sailing from Kawau to the RNZYS in Auckland where each team member was awarded a certificate and Hamilton Yacht Club received the inaugural Nespresso award for Most Improved Team.

All teams had an incredible week and very grateful for everyone involved that made it all possible from the chefs, coaches and organisers to new sponsor Nespresso. With half the team spaces for next year already booked it promises to be another incredible week in 2013.
