Three young sailors are currently representing Hong Kong in the Laser 4.7 European Sailing Championships being held in Workum, Netherlands from July 6th to 14th.

Nagisa Sakai, Gerald Williams and Sam Cooke are all members of the Hebe Dragons Racing Team located at the Hebe Haven Yacht Club in Sai Kung. Last week they were busy competing in Germany at Warnemuender Week, an annual racing regatta that attracts world and Olympic class sailors. Nagisa Sakai proudly took first place in the Girls Under 18 division, making her the first ever Hong Kong representative to win this event.

Dinghy Sailing is becoming an increasingly popular sport amongst Hong Kong’s youth with greater opportunities for representation at local, regional and international racing regattas.

Hebe Haven Yacht Club offers a wide range of youth and adult training programs and has developed into one of the most successful youth sail training centres in the Asia Pacific region. The Hebe Dragons Racing Team is coached by Marek Nostitz, who attributes the team’s success to his highly motivated young sailors and the dedicated support of their families.
