Volvo Ocean Race: Tribute from Simon Le Bon to Magnus Olsson

Simon Le Bon sailed with Magnus Olsson on board Drum in the 1985-86 edition of the race. Le Bon has sent The Volvo Ocean race website a personal tribute to his smiling Swedish friend, who died on April 20 at the age of 64.
A musician and the owner of the maxi yacht Drum, Le Bon was participating in the Fastnet with skipper Skip Novak when the boat lost her keel and capsized. ...

Oracle Team USA have posted the first images on Facebook of the launch of their second AC72 in San Francisco, on April 23.
The AC72 did attempt to have a first sail, but this was abandoned after a tow-out apparently due to an unacceptably high wind-strength for a first sail. ...

ORACLE TEAM USA officially launched the team’s second AC72 today, April 23, from the team base at Pier 80 in San Francisco. Helmsman Jimmy Spithill led the team and audience in a toast after Oracle Chief Marketing Officer Judy Sim broke a bottle of champagne across the bowsprit. The Waller Cup was contested over the weekend of April 20 – 21. Despite some very wet weather 12 sailors took to the water aiming to get their name on the Waller Cup. It was the closest racing we have ever had in the Liberty fleet with the lead often changing.
