Sail-World.com's New Zealand Editor caught up with Race Director, Jack Lloyd on the floor of the sail-loft in the Volvo Ocean Race Boatyard.
In this 15 minute interview, Lloyd gives his view of the progress made as a result of adopting the Volvo 65 One Design - with all boats having finished every leg (with one exception - Vestas Wind).
He also updates on the progress made with the Team Vestas Wind rebuild.
Other points of interest include:
- how the individual race programs are structured and how new teams get started.
- what will happen between the Volvo Ocean Races with the fleet
- how New Zealand can get a boat into the race and how the race is reducing costs for new teams
- the impact of womens teams and whether there will be more, and also youth teams in future races
