In the Volvo Ocean Race, Franck Cammas and his men sailed a superb In-Port race off Miami in some very stormy conditions with an easing breeze, which didn't exceed 12 knots. Getting off to a good start astern of Abu Dhabi, Groupama 4 picked off her adversaries and was in third place as they rounded the first mark.

A brilliant gybe enabled her to get ahead of the Emirati boat and then the Spanish. Quick on the reaches, the French crew, accompanied by the Emirati boat, managed to extend their lead during the second lap of this race. A big light patch favoured Abu Dhabi, who took the win after one hour 14 minutes, just a few boat lengths ahead of Groupama 4. The Americans finished third, the New Zealanders fourth and the Spanish last: all in all a great job in terms of the overall standing!

Finishers in the Miami In-Port race:

1- Abu Dhabi (Ian Walker)
2- Groupama 4 (Franck Cammas)
3- Puma (Ken Read)
4- Camper (Chris Nicholson)
