Skandia Sail for Gold regatta proved to be testing all week for athletes sailing at the Weymouth venue, with big winds and strong competition. Team Sperry Top-Sider athletes fought the conditions well to bring home a host of medals.
UK’s Giles Scott showed his outstanding class sailing to a Gold Medal, winning in the Finn Class. A close fought battle in Women’s Match Racing produced Silver for France’s Claire Leroy and Bronze for USA’s Anna Tunnicliffe. Team Sperry also won medals in both the men’s and women’s 470 with Luke Patience and Stuart Bithell in second and Saskia Clark and Hannah Mills taking third place respectively. Nick Dempsey sailing in his home waters took Bronze medal in the RS:X.
