Safer Boating Week - Grants for over 10,000 children and boaties
As part of Safer Boating Week (October 13-20) Maritime NZ has announced $493,000 dollars in grants This year, up to 10,000 more children will be taught boating safety, and how to sail; thousands of boaties will receive face-to-face training; hundreds of old lifejackets will be replaced as Coastguard’s “Old 4 New” upgrades continue; the popular MarineMate app will be upgraded; and there will be much more!

The Boys 29er event in the YNZ Youth Trials has turned into a two way battle after two days sailing There might be 15 boats in the 29er fleet at the Yachting New Zealand youth trials but the battle at the top means it has almost turned into a match race between the top two crews. Sebastian Lardies and Scott McKenzie (Kohimarama) hold a two-point lead over Fran Kayrouz and Kackson Keon (Murrays Bay / Wakatere) after seven races with a 12-point gap back to Josh Berry and Tom Fyfe (Murrays Bay)

Japanese opening for the 2017-18 World Cup Series
Olympic medallists, World and Continental Champions and leading World Cup contenders will head to the Japanese town Sailing in the Men's and Women's One Person Dinghy (Laser/Radial), Men's and Women's Two Person Dinghy (470), Men's and Women's Skiff (49er/49erFX) and Men's and Women's Windsurfing (RS:X) the competition will be intense with sailors eager to test themselves against their rivals on the World Cup circuit.
