RYA Push the Boat Out begins May 17

by Susie NationGrainger on 18 Apr 2014
People of all ages and abilities will have the opportunity to discover sailing on 17-18 May with RYA Push the Boat Out. The nationwide event will see hundreds of sailing clubs from Stromness to Torpoint holding open days and taster sessions to inspire their local communities to get involved in the sport.

RYA Club Support Advisor Jackie Bennetts said: 'RYA Push the Boat Out is now only a month way and we already have over 200 sailing clubs across the UK offering a range of fantastic activities.

'Whether you’re completely new to the sport or looking to get back on the water, we’re encouraging everyone to head down to their local club and have a go at sailing or windsurfing alongside experienced sailors'.

Open days, have-a-go sessions and family fun events are all taking place as part of the weekend, with many of these events absolutely free. RYA Push the Boat Out is also part of National Watersports Month.

Jackie continues: 'You can find out just how easy and affordable it is to get involved. Although getting wet isn’t guaranteed, bring a change of clothes just in case and everything else will be provided by the venue. You never know, you might even get hooked!'
