Top 18ft skipper (Yamaha), Dave McDiarmid was on the Waitemata harbour of Friday, putting the VXOne sports boat through her paces in the PIC Coastal Classic.

They started just astern of the 50fter fleet at 10.00am and her aim was to be the first boat under 50ft to Tiri Tiri Matangi, after which they intended to pull into Gulf Harbour and their waiting trailer. When they went past Sail-World aboard the NZ Sailing Trust's 'Whistleblower', the VXOne was very close to the tail of the 50fter fleet and looking good in the 15kt Southerly

McDiarmid reports that the NZ builder, Mackay Boats have more interest in the VXOne and will have three boats on the water sailing every Wednesday night starting next week.
