The World Sailing Speed Record (WSSR) Council has announced the the establishment of a new benchmark time on a World Record route.

Record: Monohull; Las Palmas to Guadeloupe

Yacht: 'Energa' 60ft Monohull

Name: Zbigniew Gutkowski. POL and 3 crew.

Dates: 22nd to the 31st January 2013.

The french navy stationed at Kerguelen Island intercepted the two leading boats in the Vendée Globe and captured some incredible footage.

Four days after French sailor Le Cléac'h moved into pole position in the solo non-stop round the world race, Thomson reclaimed control once more as the epic duel between the two skippers continued.
