Day 2 of the Mark Foy World Championship started off as a happy one for the Triple M and Alcatel teams Day 2 of the Mark Foy World Championship started off as a happy one for the Triple M and Alcatel teams as their container arrived after being delayed at sea. With little over an hour till the start to unpack their boats and get onto the course it was a close call for two teams.

They are in Vilamoura, on the Algarve coast of Portugal, for the World Optimist Dinghy Championship. The regatta starts with the first of 12 races on Sunday 26th June 2016.

Olympic fleets have several top international sailors seeking a final competition at this last major all classes event. The 470 Junior World Championships start Wednesday and have attracted 85 crews racing in Men’s and Women’s fleets. The Men’s field sees France’s Guillaume Pirouelle and Valentin Sipan out to defend their title as Italy’s Benedetta di Salle and Alessandra Dubini seek to do also in the Women’s championship.

Starting on Wednesday, the athletes younger than 24 will be sailing to win the 470 Junior World Champion's trophy Starting on Wednesday, the athletes younger than 24 will be sailing to win the 470 Junior World Champion's trophy. But before they can start, they have to face the watchful eyes of the measurement team, which is handling measurement marks, checking sails and finally lifting the boats onto the padded scale.
