Maadi Cup to Hamilton Boys, Rangi Ruru take Girls

Margins between the podium placegetters in the 2007 Girls U-18 Eights Sky TV

Hamilton Boys have taken the Maadi Cup by two lengths from defending champions Christs College. Hamilton took control soon after the start and moved out to win by two boat lengths at the finish.

Christs challenged in the first half od the race, but Hamilton was too strong and the defending champions protected second place from Kings College, who took the bronze medal by a fraction of a second from Auckland Grammar.

In the Levin Jubilee Cup, Rangi Ruru were a clear winner of the event from Nelson Girls College. In a shadow of the Boys event, Rangi Ruru took charge early on and kept Nelson Girls College under control, winning by a boatlength from Wanganui Collegiate, the 2006 titleholder who were a canvas behind.

Times were a lot slower for the Boys event, with Hamilton Boys rowing down the course in 6min 22s, a far cry from the time they last won the event in 2005, on the same venue when the Ian Wright coached crew, was well under the magic six minute mark.
